In my Local Account a virus Scanner, not Windows Defender, is picking up a file in the Recycle Bin which I believe is the Default Windows 11 Recycle Bin i.e.
    C:\$Recycle.Bin\S-1-5-21-421165393-580265310-1069751867-500\$RUCGDCF.sys

When I check the Recycle Bin in my local account I can see no evidence of this file hence the view that it is the default Admin Win 11 Account.

My question is:- How do I locate this file and delete it?

    Thank you

    Terry

It may well be due to a corrupt recycle bin.
Run a command prompt elevated (as admin)
    Copy and paste
    rd /s /q C:$Recycle.bin
    then press enter.
    Done.

    Hi Stapp

Thanks very much for your help. I did as you suggested from my Local administrator account I don't know whether that was what you intended because I think the problem as outlined earlier is with the Default Windows 11 Admin Account. If it wasn't what you intended, I don't know how to get to the Default Admin.

That aside please see the image. It's an odd response

Perhaps go into the root of C first by changing directory from system32.
So right-click cmd and select run as admin.
copy and paste and press enter
    cd /d C:\

    Then copy and paste
    rd /s /q C:$Recycle.bin
    and press enter.

    Hi Stapp

Thanks again. It returned this (see image). No error. Not sure what it says? No corruption?

It should mean that your recycle bin has been deleted and a new one created.
You can always restart the PC for good measure.
If you run a scan with Defender is it still finding the file?

    Hi Stapp

Thanks I will do what you suggest. Incidentally, it isn't Windows Defender that's picking up the file in the Recycle Bin, it's Emsisoft Emergency kit which I use via a Task Schedule.

I opened Treesize to scan the C directory and it shows this:-S-1-5-21-421165393-580265310-1069751867-1002
Whereas the the recycle Bin that Emsisoft is picking up is:-S-1-5-21-421165393-580265310-1069751867-500\$RUCGDCF.sys

As you can see the end of each designator differs one is 1002 from Treesize The other is 500 Emsisoft.

Is this to do with the fact that it might be the default Admin account?

    Thanks

    Terry

    Hi Stapp

    You are the man!!!

No Emsisoft is not now finding the file. Thank you so much and thanks to Wilders. I am very grateful. This is a new PC and should not be having these problems. Thanks to you I am back in harness.

    Hi Stapp

Really, I didn't know. Still I stand by what I said, it's an expression that is "supra gender in the UK" it was a way of expressing my thanks to you irrespective of gender.
