    Hi.

After reading this in TDS FAQ:

I need some help to configure TDS as a server in Outpost Pro firewall 2.1.

    Thanks for help.
    Pete

Hmm i don't know nothing about Outpost, but it will have an option to allow TDS to act as a server if you want to. Not that it is necessary at all, of course, but maybe you like to do some tests?
You can configure the sockets upper right corner to be initialised automated, so on several default trojan sockets an attacker would find TDS listening and acting as an emulator.
Very nice if you see something happening to put the TCP port listen on that port and see the data packets coming in and you can change them.
Or fire up together Port Explorer and sniff on the datapackets a bit more.
In my firewall i just get the question to allow TDS to act as a server so guess that will be something equal in your Outpost.
Can people tell you in the Outpost firewall forum (other firewalls)?

Think it is kind of general question "how to allow a program to run as a server in Outpost" -- maybe you get sooner answer if you post in our "other firewalls" forum here https://www.wilderssecurity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=31 with a link to this thread?
In Zonealarm it is just in the programs list five an "allow" check to TDS, so i hope it's just as easy in Outpost.
You're really going for it eh, trying it all out, playing with the portscanners, etc? Be careful! :D

    Jooske,

What local port(s) does TDS monitor for incoming connections, and which protocol does it use (i.e. TCP or UDP)? Allowing TDS to act as a server is quite easy, but if TDS only listens on a few ports then I would recommend that the rule only allow inbound connections on those ports.

In the Port listen you can configure the ports you want, all 65553 TCP at least, in the automated sockets either a series of default trojan ports UDP and TCP either you can define them yourself or with scripts.
In the helpfile are some nice reads about that.

Do you have Acronis True Image by chance? I have just removed mine to see if that is a problem with the BSOD. Shot in the dark, but it was the last remaining program to run in background since the BSOD started for me.
