I am a bit confused as to how to back-up to DVD. Do I create the back-up file, and then copy it to a DVD? Or, do I back-up directly to the DVD as the destination?

Thanks in advance for any help!

You can do it either way with version 10. But the direct method will be very very slow.

My personal preference is the following: -

    • Backup to a dedicated "Backup" partition on another internal or external disk
    • Use dedicated DVD burning software to burn the image to DVD

Dedicated burning software could be Nero, Roxio, Pinnacle or similar

    NOTES

    1. If you are backing up the System partition then it serves little purpose to burn it to DVD. You should restore the System image to a spare disk which you can then test to ensure that it is bootable.
    2. If the archive exceeds the capacity of your DVD (e.g. 4.7GB) then setup ATI so that it will create your backup in data blocks that will fit your DVD capacity.
