I just came across a Chrome browser extension called "Minilock". It probably uses Salsa20 cipher and is incredibly simple to use.

Has anyone used this app.? What are your observations?

I have used it for a while. While I am not a security expert and I cannot comment on it, I have found it very easy and friendly to use, much better than GPG for exchanging secure messages (create a minilock txt file and send it..). It's from the same developer of Cryptocat, Nadim Kobeissi.

I've been playing with this for a while too. I like it a lot, but I believe the developer abandoned it almost 1 year ago. No updates, and not much of an active community. So its long term effectiveness against attack is unknown.

I think Mr. Kobeissi left minilock and headed off to Peerio (encrypted file sharing); and then left that project too.

    Head scratcher ...
