I personally can't do without FireGestures, adblockEdge, noScript, HideAllImages, printPagesToPDF, DuplicateTabCloser, unMHT, CookieMonster, addToSearchBar

Just like w software running in the background on the OS, I've found that using a minimal number of addons in firefox (or browser equivalents) keeps the browser functioning at optimal levels. I used to use a ton but after a while I got fed up and cleaned up. I have 4 atm but generally only 2 are actually functional when downloads are not in play. The primary two are adblock and noscript. I used to use ghostery but I found that the browser cookie deletion on exit combined w sandboxie suited my needs well enough.

As a side note, I tend to add WoT when I work on a PC but don't use it myself as I rarely end up visiting new sites. A sign of old age I suppose?

I've read that AdblockEdge will not continue very soon. So check it out and you may have to change to another Adblock (Plus) or something similar. As soon as I read about ABE will cease to exist I changed to Adblock Plus.

Thanks Niki. I hadn't noticed that. Annoying... How would ublock compare to adblockEdge or/and adblockPlus? Is there a way to block specific images on a per click basis with ublock, just as with ElementHidingHelperForABPlus?

I often hear people saying that firefox is slow and it is hardly surprising seeing some of these figures. Some are using extensions in the double figures and the majority of them are simply not needed.

Bogging the browser down with extensions is hardly going to speed it up.:doubt:

The best two, in my opinion. I use 3 in my laptop and 4 in my desktop. And those two are the ones that I got to have.:)

What's the point of the My Homepage add-on? You can just go into about:config and change the value of browser.newtab.url to your preferred home page.

My home page/new tab is always a search engine. This add-on puts the cursor on the search box of that page instead of the url bar; that's a lot of saved clicks per day.

uMatrix (I removed NoScript after so many years of usage. It was never a good idea to allow so much globally, temporary rules using Sandboxie of course helped a little.)

uBlock Origin (default install settings except added a finnish language filter and removed some 3rd-party filter from malware domain category because of running uMatrix.

Just removed Adblock Plus and replaced with Ublock origin. Ublock is faster and lighter.

I actually started using CTR (classic theme restorer) 2 days ago, and I am glad I did because I was missing square tabs, and I could get rid of the browser color theme that I was using, since I could configured the tab bar color, and the tabs color via the CTR addon.

It's great that the dev even includes a simple checkbox for the "Hello" feature and also the upcoming "Pocket" feature for the users that don't feel home in about:config can use to disable/enable them in a simple way. I already had "Hello" set to false via about:config so the checkbox in CTR was already unchecked.

I used a CSS file to get the tabs on bottom before I started using CTR but that CSS trick isn't needed anymore.

What would be the difference between uBlock abd uBlock-Origin?

Thats a nice addon to have. If you like bookmarks to open as a a sidebar window on the left side of the screen with one click, you can get that function back with the addon.

Yes it really useful, I kind of regret I didn't started to use it a lot sooner after installing Firefox! This add-on reveal the many unfortunate mistakes Mozilla have made to their Firefox...not all changes are for the better :D
