How important are Windows updates

    There is one update I cannot download from windows and when I get the error code and go to MS links for this code, I just get more confused with more links.

    I am talking about download KB917344 which gives an error code of 0x800b003.

    so questions are

    1--What happens if I ignore it (have dowmloaded others ok).

    2--is there any EASIER way to sort it other than the links that are out there for this code.
