how good is Windows DEP?

    I see you're new here.
    From basics, DEP Data Execution Prevention only works on a system that has Windows XP Service Pack 2. Software-enforced DEP is enabled by default. HARDWARE-ENFORCED DEP only works if your computer's processor has Execute Disable Bit, or NX functionality.

    Why does it not work for you? Are you running Windows XP Service Pack 1 or 2? DEP only works on Service Pack 2.
