    Hi all,

I'm trying to share my iTunes library over my home network.

The PC which hosts my iTunes library is running XP Pro SP2 and ESS.

At the moment both of the client PC's are running Comodo Pro until I can afford to buy ESS licenses early next year. One of the clients is running XP Pro and the other XP Home. I appreciate that advice on opening the ports in Comodo might not be available here - I'll post on the Comodo forum as well.

My question is, how do I open the necessary ports for iTunes in ESS ?

I have been advised that the required ports are Port 3689 TCP and Port 5353 UDP.

    Many thanks,

    Steve.

In short - in Interactive mode :thumb:

    In details:

    1. Navigate to Personal Firewall.
    Choose Interactive Mode

    2. Navigate to Personal Firewall -> Rules and zones . In the right (at the Trusted zone part) , click Setup and choose "Allow sharing"

    3. In Personal firewall -> IDS and advanced options , enabled logging

    4. Open Personal firewall > Rules and zones > Zone and rule setup
Choose Toggle detailed view of all riles (if already not set to this)
Uncheck every rule that has in the name Block. Press Apply.

    Confirm with OK.

    [MOVE]Variant 1[/MOVE]

Variant 1 allows all the traffic by and to the iTunes exe

    Start creating new rule:

    Name : your choice
    Direction : both
    Action : Allow
Protocol : (you choose) but in your case TCP & UDP

    Additional action:
    check Log

In Local tab - here choose the iTunes application exe
In Remote choose - don't touch here
Then you should enter the IP range of your home network , example 192.168.16.1 - 192.168.16.4

Confirm with OK . Press Apply button .

    [MOVE]Variant 2[/MOVE]

Variant 2 allows all the traffic to and from the ports you wish

    2.1.
    Start creating new rule:

    Name : your choice
    Direction : both
    Action : Allow
Protocol : (you choose) but in your case TCP & UDP

    Additional action:
    check Log

In Local tab - here choose port 3689
In Remote choose - don't touch here (you can also enter 3689 here , just in case ; I am not aware how exactly iTunes needs to work)
Then you should enter the IP address in the Remote tab . So here enter the IP range of your home network - example 192.168.16.1 - 192.168.16.4) . If you don't enter IP , ESS will open port 3689 at all for any IP.

Confirm with OK . Press Apply button .

    2.2
    Start creating new rule:

Protocol : (you choose) but in your case TCP & UDP

    Additional action:

In Local tab - here choose port 5353
In Remote choose - don't touch here (you can also enter 5353 here , just in case ; I am not aware how exactly iTunes needs to work)
Then you should enter the IP address in the Remote tab . So here enter the IP range of your home network - example 192.168.16.1 - 192.168.16.4) . If you don't enter IP , ESS will open port 5353 at all for any IP.

Confirm with OK . Press Apply button .
