Because other free products are simply better. Like Avast! For example which offers a lot more for nothing the the PCTools product.

What engine does PCTools use? Does it use its own or Symantec's?

I let my poodle (Fifi) use it, and she had nothing but problems!

Free AV = Symantec without SONAR/Insight + Cloud

Paid versions = Symantec + PC Tools + ThreatFire + Cloud (SDNet and Symantec Cloud)

A few years back, PC Tools was very famous with their Spyware Doctor.

Nowadays, not many ones use even their Free AV,
which lacks many features compared with their Paid version.

There are far better free Avs than this. More features as well. It's just not good enough. At least not for me. :(

If things go on like this, it will be "and then there was none" :D

I have tried very hard to keep on with it but it seems the company itself is not enthusiastic about its products. There is no flexibility in anything and the customer service is kinda rigid, though they are still good enough to help me out with issues. I just don't see the point in keeping a company alive in this state, unless Symantec just wants to increase its market share by proxy

It seems the former CEO of PC Tools is no longer actively involved as well.

Got an email from PC Tools today informing me of an update. Of particular note was this line:

At least now we know where this is going. Given PC Tools SD+AV is USD 7.95 now at Downloadcrew's software store (USD 9.95 for Internet Security), it might be a good idea to snag a license :)
