    Hi Atomas31,

Check your Local Security Policy (in Administrative Tools) and see if it is enabled for Administrators.

    Hi Nick s,

Could you be a little more specific about the path where I can have access to local security policy? I have to specifie that my system is in French so that make sometime more difficult to found something without the path ;-)

    Thanks,
    Atomas31

The easiest way to get there is to go Start, Run, type secpol.msc, and hit Enter. You can also find it in the Control Panel. Double-click on Administrative Tools and look for the Local Security Policy icon.

Did you try to open it from Control Panel/Administrative Tools?

Unfortunately, Local Security Policy is not available in XP Home. I have run Filemon and Process Explorer on XP Home systems under user accounts with standard admin privileges. Are you sure you are running as admin?

Yes or at least I think so since I am the only user of this computer! Is there a way to verified that?

Users in XP Home run as admin by default. You can check by looking in Control Panel/User Accounts and click your account icon.

Try going Start/Run, type and execute the following (you can copy/paste it):

    runas /user:Administrator "c:\*\filemon.exe"

Insert the path to filemon.exe for the *. You will be prompted for a password. If you never set a password for the Administrator account, leave it blank and hit Enter. Otherwise enter the password.

i've read afew times that it's possible to upgrade from XP home to XP Pro by downloading the upgrades from the internet, so it might be possible to download the Local Security Policy somewhere.
