I have been using Firefox for quite a while and I remember when it automatically launched into a centered window on my screen.

Does anyone know what modifications to the user profile prefs.js file can be made to accomplish this centering of the Firefox window?

I just hate having to do this manually for Firefox as opposed to Chromium which automatically centers on launch.

Finally, I was able to find a relevant article about this problem:

How to center the open windows in Ubuntu at:

    http://www.ricksdailytips.com/center-windows-in-ubuntu/

It involves installing the package CompizConfig Settings Manager and clicking on Window Management, then Place Windows, followed by changing Placement Mode to Centered.

What desktop environment? KDE/Plasma does this automatically.

Ubuntu 12.0.5 LTS, not KDE, i.e. Gnome + GTK.
