    That's an interesting insight, about how wrong these profiles can be. At least some government watch lists are apparently no better, with impacts that are far more frightening.

    This is what I felt a lot of times. Either Amazon, Google, or any other, all of them miserably failed to properly profiling me. Even when I allowed some tracking, quality of Google search actually degraded by it. Maybe FB has more personal info than these services, and maybe these profiling methods have improved since then, but I still believe they are not that accurate than some statistics suggest. Don't forget these profiling is done on statistical basis. It means "uncommon" ppl will be more likely to be wrongly profiled.
