Home Page changes to :any-find.com

My home page changes to Any-Find.com on its own. I have followed your instructions and ran Adware6.0 then ran highjackthis. I just want to get my home page back to a decent web browser. Please help!

Hi redwings, and welcome.

You do have a few nasty things there, TROJ_GEMA.A and also a CoolWebSearch infection.

First, bring up TaskManager (ctrl+alt+del keys) and find the IEengine.exe, right-click on it and choose End Process to stop it from running.

Then download CWShredder.
Unzip it to a place you will be able to find it easily as you will need it for later step.

If you did not install the TOPicks yourself, then uninstall it from "Add/Remove Programs" in the Control Panel. Look for entries called 'AM Server' and 'POP'. Continue on with the following.

Next, create a permanent folder on your C: drive and move HijackThis our of the temp folder and into the permanent one. HijackThis creates backups in the folder it is ran from and a temp folder will result in lost backups.


Then with only HijackThis open, put a check beside the following items.
Make sure ALL windows/browsers are closed (except HijackThis) and click *Fix checked:

Run the CWShredder program you downloaded earlier.
Click the "Fix" button (not "scan only") and follow the instructions you will receive when the program runs.


Boot your computer into safe mode by tapping the F8 key just before Windows loads.
Then find and delete the following highlighted in bold:

c:\windows\system32\wminfo.exe
C:\Program Files\ToPicks <--entire folder if you uninstalled it
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEengine.exe

Some of the above files may be hidden so make sure you have all files and folders viewable:

Reboot your computer normally, and go to one of these on-line virus scans and do a FULL system scan: Free Services.

Post a new hijackthis log here in this thread to be checked.
