    Hello everyone,
    businesses have anti virus gateways to protect there corporation. they sit at the start of there network. why cant av companies make a scaled down version for home users?
    OS=linux
    its also a router (also versions with adsl modem)
    wireless and wired connections.
    so if you have cable it would be as follows:ethernet modem>antivirus gateway box>wireless or wired connection
    for adsl its just: filter>antivirus gateway box.

    web interface to configure it.
    have it so it blocks the threat and also quarantines it.
    standard options would ignore risk ware such as remote tools etc but can turn detection on.
    shows a web page telling you whats been blocked and what it done with the threat.
    a few different spec boxes.
    has a dvd drive and two or three usb ports so you can scan your dvd's,cd's and flash drives and remove malware if any before plugging them in to your pc.

    share your thoughts

    Astaro security gateway is free for home users. Also other virtual machine appliances and free software for home made hardware firewalls.
