By the time anybody can get to this, I'll probably be home on my own machine. I'll have to deal with it tomorrow. Any help will be appreciated, and I thank you in advance.

    Hi dangitall,

    Welcome to Wilders.

Check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/ie/defaults/sb/ymsgr/*http://www.yahoo.com/ext/search/search.html

    O2 - BHO: mwsBar BHO - {07B18EA1-A523-4961-B6BB-170DE4475CCA} - C:\PROGRAM FILES\MYWEBSEARCH\BAR\1.BIN\MWSBAR.DLL

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MyWebSearch Email Plugin] C:\PROGRA~1\MYWEBS~1\BAR\1.BIN\MWSOEMON.EXE

Download CWShredder and run. Be sure ALL other windows are closed use the Fix button and follow the instructions you will receive.

Then reboot in Safe Mode and delete the following:

    C:\PROGRAM FILES\MYWEBSEARCH\ <-- entire folder

Reboot and then post a fresh HijackThis log.

I also urge you to update your copy of Windows by going HERE. This will help cut down on your chances of reinfestation.

    Regards,
    Kent

Hi, Puff, and thanks for the welcome!

Like I said, I'll be getting back out there at some point today, so I'll deal with it then.

I went out there last night expecting a hot date ;), and I ended up spending most of the time downloading updates :p! Some people just don't listen, you know?

Anyway, it'll be later before I get back out there so, 'til then ...

Apologies for the delay, but I got out there this morning and discovered that there'd been an unfortunate meeting of the keyboard with a cup of coffee. YOU try logging-in here when the keyboard serves up Klingon!

For some reason, every time I preview this, it wants to go full-width (with hor. scrolling). I can't figure it out, so that's the way I'm posting it.

the only optional things are these 2

for some strange reason some people actually use and like the real player toolbar to seqrch for & download music & video o_O o_O

if she doesn't want them and they were just installed along with real player because like most of us she doesn't read the T&C's
then just fix those 2 in HJT

    Thank you, Derek.

This one'll be tough keeping clean, I suspect. Not only does she have NO idea of personal security (Updates? What are those?), but I'm also going to have to convince her that coffee and keyboards don't mix! It never ends!
