Yep that works too! Forgot about that one... and with far less clicks than my method. But it never hurts to open the hood to check the oil once in a while :)

    @hawki:
boos, frowns, and hisses, for still believing in such tools, like System-Mechanic.

You then killed the uninstall routine from HMP.A, using IOBit-Uninstaller...

Then complain instead of asking, how to exclude your SM wunderwaffe....

In addition to my earlier reply, today,
now there are some reports that KB3146706 is offered by Microsoft for automatic install, again.
See Woody Leonhard's report and see emmjay's report.
The KB3146706 knowledge base article mentions the 05/03/2016 19:53:00 version as revision 2.0.

A wise decision, not to rush with build 369,
as KB3146706 now comes in a revised version.

Thanks for the info Dragon. But when I close the HMPA banner SM start up window of SM disappears. Also dunno if HMPA closes down Microsoft register server 6.1 until reboot. If it does than it can't register legitimate dlls if you want to install another program. Who knows. SM is always pushing specials throught the overview page. Maybe HMPA considers that malicious. It is unlikely that it is, but the process would appear to be able to act malicously.

No Loss to Sopho's target market. Since 1998 SM has only been installed on 78+ Million PCs and FWIW, SM remains the PC Mag's Editors Choice for a system maintenance utility.

    The silence is deafening.

Have you tried excluding it from HMPA protection?

IMHO, since Windows 7, the OS has been pretty well capable of it's own scheduled maintenance. If you just let Windows do it's thing, and run CCleaner Free every now and then, you should be just fine.

Is it just my imagination, or is FF 46.0.1 a little quicker than 46.0.0?

Aww cmn hiltihome. You are being too harsh. The USA is a country where 60% of the population can't name the three branches of the Federal Government, and you expect everyone with a PC to be tech savy enough to do the things that SM simply and conveniently does for them. (FYI: The three branches of the Federal Government are General Electric, Citibank, and Exxon)

Get your head out of the Wilders' rarified air for a minute and put yourself in the shoes of Janey Simpleton, Homer Simpson, or hawki :)

How many PC users know how to make a bootable disc with Windows? Know where the startup menu is? Have a registry back-up. You think evereyone has heard of, let alone know how to make an image. At least a bootable disc, a recent copy of their PC's registry, and IOLO Recovery opotions will give them a chance.

Many tech savy use Process Lasso, SM has something close to that. It's defrag placement scheme is unique and, at least in theory, makes a lot of sense. How many know how to run a chkdisc? Th SM Super Control Panel gives the User easy access to settings that most PC Users probably don't know exist.

From your Iolo link it appears that you are in Germany. The USA has largely a hypnotized, ignorant citizenry, unbelievably so. Most couldn't name The Vice President, or pass the test about the USA and its Government given to those immigrants who legally seek to become citizens of the USA. Many surveys time and again have shown this. (Though the current surge in populism shows that it is finally waking up.) So excuse the "lemmings" for using System Mechanic.

Think of System Mechanic as a Fix-a-Flat for the PC.

oOops-- this his the HMPA thread. Sorry for the digression/mini hi-jack

so ericloman would you please give us some guidance here.

I guess I'd rather avoid an encrypted hard drive than have the convenience and performance enhancement that System Mechanic offers, but I would prefer to enjoy both.

Are you sure? Iobit initially uses the standard(built-in) uninstaller. Afterwards it scans for leftovers. It also has the advantage that if the uninstallation process requires a reboot, the user can reboot and do the scan after.

So, under normal circumstances I don't see how Iobit Uninstaller would be an issue.

@Azure Phoenix You are right. IOBit Uninstaller will only scan for leftovers after the original installer has finished running.

Sent you a dmp via Wetransfer. High CPU usage with FF 46.0.1 (32 bits) and build 369.

I've got it. Currently I'm out of office. We are this week understaffed due to vacations this week. My colleague Alex is looking currently at Firefox 46 improvements and @Peter2150 reported issue. He'll be looking at your dump next.

Thanks. When Firefox 46.0.1 is active up to 10% CPU-usage and when Firefox is not active around 0% CPU-usage (Hmp.Alert build 369).

Edit: Did another test. When IE11 is active Hmp.Alert build 369 shows around 0% CPU-usage..
