It can't be reported as a fp or just hidden. The "problem" which Hitman sees is not a problem. That's the problem.

Shrug; kinda difficult to guess whether the Winsock settings have been screwed by a download manager or some malware I'd assume.

So, Hitman keeps popping up with the line mentioned earlier and there's no way to make HP ignore this. Maybe Erik could explain this issue.

    [Solved] IDM Winsock Repair

Could you send me an e-mail (support@hitmanpro.com) with a registry export of the following key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\WinSock2

Hitman Pro enumerates the entries under Catalog_Entries and Catalog_Entries64 and determines whether the file specified in the PackedCatalogItem exists (this is a REG_BINARY so you have to click it in RegEdit to show the contents). If Hitman Pro can't find the file it shows the repair entry.

Perhaps there is some weird path in the PackedCatalogItem that triggers the repair.

Looking forward to receive the export.

UPDATE: I finally found the problem!

When IDM is installed it catches the files that are being downloaded. I thought that nothing more was needed to trigger the problem. But not so. As SQBI already pointed out (which I failed to read properly :ouch:) you must tick the "Advanced Browser Integration" in IDM. Only THEN, IDM will install its Winsock LSP drivers. I assumed IDM installs them by default . I guess assumption is the mother of all f*ck-ups :D

    The Problem
Since IDM is a 32-bit application it installs its 32-bit Winsock2 LSP drivers in the SysWOW64 folder. But the registry points to the system32 folder (logically for WoW processes (32-bit on 64-bit) as this gets translated to SysWOW64 automatically.

Since Hitman Pro is a 64-bit process (and not a WoW process) it must do the WoW translation. It already does so in general but not in the Winsock repair section.

I have made a fix and it will be released today in the final.

Admins how about giving SurfRight an forum category like PrevX and others? They do deliver proper support and updates on this forum, the last post about the IDM/Winsock/SysWOW shows that.

    Category: SurfRight
    Forums:
    - Hitman Pro
    - Other

    Or just Hitman Pro?

Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

Here the automatic update ain't working (Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Dutch), it downloads the update and says Applicatie wordt bijgewerkt (application is getting updated). But after that nothing happens. If I click Hitman Pro shortcut again it just starts downloading again and is still on build 90. I just downloaded the latest build and let it override the old "installation". But I guess a updater which don't update ain't a real updater :D.

    Didn't even notice it :O.
Will be quite interesting what's going to happen in the near future, partners will certainly not give access to their cloud/signatures/engine for free, and they certainly want everybody to see that Hitman Pro is powered by their cloud/signatures/engine.

I was hoping the number of Vendors was going to go up as I watched it update. My heart sank when I saw nothing listed. It always gave me a warm feeling to see the list there in the Gui.

Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

I had the same Winsock issue. There were no issues on my system (Win 7/64), but HP said I had an issue, so I let it repair it, rebooted and all kinds of issues. Thankfully I had a restore point to go to. Not sure what HP thinks the issue is, but it certainly didn't "fix" anything.

Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

Build 97 should not give any problems anymore related to the Winsock repair issue. See this post on what was fixed on x64.

If you still have issues with build 97 please report them.

It looks like the updater issue is so far related to x64 :doubt:

Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

At least HMP is a cinch to uninstall and reinstall. None the less I would like to thank you and the surfright team for continuing to improve HMP. I'm really looking forward to seeing what new scan engine(s) will be implemented.

Erik, you may want to consider contacting a forum admin to change your account to developer or other 'expert' status to differentiate your visible forum name from all of the rest.

Also confirming a auto-update issue, first try nothing happened, on second try it auto re-downloaded the update and installed without issue.

    On Vista HP x64.

I see no mention at all on the new version or on the web sites what scan engines HMP is currently using. It is only fair that you let us know.
