Oh my gosh, you're right. It's not a solution.
But wait, did Erik say he was working on it?
    Then it's a workaround, isn't it?

Erik, can you or someone else please let me know if there is a way to have the scheduled scan run the default scan instead of the quick scan?

Changing the setting to running the "default scan" scheduled still results in the "quick scan" being run on our two machines. Is there a fix coming or a workaround?

I know everyone's busy but I've now posted this question three times.

    Many thanks in advance. Honestly.

We will have a look at this issue. Don't expect too much progress though due to the holidays.

Thanks, Erik...the timing isn't critical, just that you are aware of it so you can make any necessary changes when the opportunity allows.

    Happy Holidays and thanks.

I can confirm the problem. Fix will be released in a few days.

I am still investigating the Shell Extension problem which I am until now still unable to reproduce. I have XP SP3 with all updates installed.

@Adric, @Bo: what other software do you guys run?

As a workaround, you could try and schedule a task with Windows scheduler to run HitmanPro with the flag /scan.

That should start HitmanPro with the default scan.

Thanks...prior to the latest version I was using Windows scheduler to do daily scans but for now I'll go with the "quick scan" and run a manual "default" scan until Erik gets it fixed.

    I'm not that lazy. ;)

Appreciate the workaround though. I had thought about it.

Looks like Sandboxie is a common denominator.
I run SBIE too and as posted, I have the shell extension crash issue as well.

Hi Erik, my XP SP3, like yours, also has all updates from Microsoft. I run my computer as clean as possible with no AV, Firewall or anything like that. The only security software that I use is Sandboxie and Windows firewall, nothing else. On demand, I only use the best, HMP.

In a few days when I ll install 3.6 again, I ll try getting you the log that you want. If there is a way that I could get that log, even though I went back to 3.5 when I restored my PC, let me know.

Let me point out, my Explorer did not crash when I ran a right click scan. I tried that since I knew some people had reported issues about it. After installing and scanning, things seemed normal and it was only when I tried to pin HMP to the start menu that I noticed something was not quite right.

This is weird my system is partly frozen...can't access Start button, but managed to get some screenshots that may shed a light on the shell extension problem.

DR Watson has crashed on my system, too. Running XP Pro SP3

This seems to cause the shell extension problem on my computer. Click on Start > My Recent Documents > Highlight document.

    Confirmed...

I'm not sure i understand the attitude, but anyway. No, it's not a workaround either, workaround is reverting back to the 3.5 version where the right-click scan works

Page is just saying that a work-around with the good folks at HP is that, you dont need to uninstall to a older version. The work-around is they will have it fixed lickity split. Show a little patience bro.:)

It's not Sandboxie on my system. I uninstalled it and reinstalled HMP. Same problem. The only other security software that I have installed is SAS, MBAM and Keyscrambler. WinPatrol too, but not currently enabled.

MBAM and KeyScrambler running here as well.
I have temporarily removed 3.6 and gone back to 3.5 as I need the right-click scan capability.

I installed HMP 3.6 under VMware running XP/SP3 Professional. Exact same problem, but the software installed on the VM is older than what I have on my current system. No MBAM, no SAS, no Keyscrambler.

Right-click was fixed. Version 3.6.0 Build 137 has it. That is the latest version of HMP.

Shell integration is definitely broken in 137 on my XP system. Just because it has the option now, doesn't mean it works.:D I think you might be talking about a beta version where the option was missing.

I've done right click scan of files with version 137 on my XP Pro SP3 setup without incident (so far).
