HIPS, Rootkits, Behavior Blockers ???

i hope i not post this in wrong forum. Also my question will sound very funny/basic for all the experts here so please bear me.

I was reading some posts i come came across the terms HIPS, Rootkits, and Behavior Blockers. Can some1 help me understand what these are? Are these something like anti-spyware, anti-malware, or something else

whenever i make try to learn, i found so much information that instead of learning, i end up getting confused This happen when i try to understand virtual machines but thanks to many people who finally helped me understand and guided.
