I have been hijacked twice maybe. Each one controls my computer either with a taskbar on my desktop or rerouting my attempts to go to online sites. The one I eliminated by uninstalling everything that had to do with kazaa. But the other one search200 has control of my IE and reroutes or controls by intercepting any site I try to go to.

I installed adaware and it found 90 items which it quarantined and I deleted. But the IE was still hijacked. I tried to download spybot and it wouldnt let me. I tried to do an online virus scan at panda and it wouldnt let me complete it. My Norton said no virus, as far as the panda got it said I had 2. I went back and finished the scan with panda and this time it said no virus.

Next I was able to install CW shredder and I ran it twice both times it found stuff and deleted or repaired. But as soon as I clicked on IE the taskbar and search200 was back. I tried spywareblaster and nothing. Second reboot after running CWshredder I got creation value errors and parse errors. My computer is athalon winxp pent 4, with 512 Ram 1.39 gig. It takes 5 minutes to boot up after being hi jacked. I think it might be killing my computer. I know nothing about computers so Ive avoided Hijackthis. Is there way other than Hijackthis to solve my problem. I hope this isn't a repeat thread, because I keep getting lost on your site. I dont understand websites or computers.

    Hi Missey,

HijackThis is not as scary as you may think as long as you follow the directions from the specialists.

Search200 is a lop domain and if you "received" it along with Messenger Plus you can remove that in Add/Remove Software and it will take c2media aka lop out along with it.

The choice is (as it should be) yours.

    Regards,

    Pieter

    Peter A,

I forgot to say that when I downloaded (thought I did) spybot. It was on my desktop but said it was missing a dll file. So I tried a second time, same thing. So I uninstalled. Did that do something to the computer?

I didn't download messenger plus but what I did besides kazaa was downloaded some free gamesfrom pcgames.com. I think one of those was the one where the first taskbar/icon thingy came from. I also think it was called ghost or something, so I removed everything that looked like a game because it said I couldn't remove the one game unless I uninstalled all their freeware. So I started deleting and it went away. I left some because I didn't know what they were one was gama2 and gama3 and then there was a ps2 and a ps3 but I thought those might be computer stuff so they are still on there. Anyway, when the search200 came back so did the other one. I didn't see a lop or c2media in my add/remove. I will go look again. This is my dad's computer, so I have to keep switching.

I used kazaa begone from major geeks because it was there and I didn't know how to get rid of kazaa and all its stuff. Adaware keeps taking stuff out and so does cwshredder. Is all this what's causing my computer to go so slow or is there something else wrong too? If I cant find the other stuff and have to use Hijackthis I will. Will it be ok to post here when Im doing it? Im worried Im going to ruin my computer. Its majorly messed up.
