I have been highjacked by "coolsearch" and I have used Ad-aware to remove some problems. I also have Spybot S&D, but used Ad-aware before using HijackThis. I am being continuously harassed about every 5 minutes to connect but I have disabled the autodial so it doesn't connect without my permission. My log is posted below.

    Hi leemyers,

Before you start, please unzip hijackthis to a separate folder. The program will make backups in the folder in the folder it's in.
These easily get lost in a Temp folder.

Check the items listed below in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.coolsearch.biz/

    F1 - win.ini: run=C:\WINDOWS\System32\services\services.exe

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5321E378-FFAD-4999-8C62-03CA8155F0B3} - (no file)

    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {8333C319-0669-4893-A418-F56D9249FCA6} - (no file)

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [xpsystem] C:\WINDOWS\System32\services\services.exe

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [xpsystem] C:\WINDOWS\System32\services\services.exe

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Psoo] C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\taas.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [WCPS] C:\WINDOWS\System32\wintsu.exe

    O13 - Home Prefix: c:\searchpage.html?page=
    O13 - Mosaic Prefix: c:\searchpage.html?page=

    O16 - DPF: {861DB4B6-3838-11D2-8E50-002018200E57} (MrSIDI Control) - http://images.myfamily.net/isfiles/downloads/MrSIDI.cab
    O16 - DPF: {9EB320CE-BE1D-4304-A081-4B4665414BEF} (MediaTicketsInstaller Control) - http://www.mt-download.com/MediaTicketsInstaller.cab

Then reboot into safe mode and delete:
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\services\services.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\taas.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\wintsu.exe

    Regards,

    Pieter

:) THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU Peiter! Now I may be able to get some work done without interuption. If I could get my dial-up connection icon back on the Task Bar I would be back to where I want to be. Some where a switch has been changed, but I haven't found it yet. But I will!! Thanks again!

If you look at the properties of the connection there should be a option to show the icon in the systray or not.

    Maybe that one was changed?

And please read https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=27971 for some pointers on how to keep those rodents at bay.

    Regards,

    Pieter
