    Hi All,

I posted this at another forum, but no one seems to know how to fix it, so I thought I`d post here.

During football season, I set a Yahoo fantasy football page as my start up/homepage. Now, I cannot get rid of it. I ran Spybot, Adaware, IESpyad, Hijack This, and Spyware Blaster. I also did a reg edit that I think I read here to set the default in IE to "0". Each time I run HJT and reboot, it comes back. Any help would be much appreciated.

I have tried "fixing" this line dozens of times now:
    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/f1/show?page=leaguehome&lid=463475
only to have it come right back :doubt:

    Thanks,

    Hi AJ,

This will likely be one for the experts but you might want to retry selecting and fixing that entry along with a few others so the complete fix list would be as shown below... but first, please make sure you are out of every other program/window (including and Windows Explorer windows) before selecting and fixing.

Then please do a reboot and let us know how it works. If problems persist please wait for a response from Pieter, Unzy or Tony and they will be able to provide better assistance.

    Thanks

Hi, thanks for the reply. I removed the above suggested lines, all windows closed and rebooted.
    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/f1/show?page=leaguehome&lid=463475
This line has returned again. I hope I won`t have to reformat to get rid of it (mainly because I don`t know how ;-) )

    Thanks,
    Adam

    Hi AJMay,

Do you have any program that guards your StartPage?

Please try this. Copy the part below in bold in notepad.
Then save the file as StartPage.reg

    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
    "Start Page"="http://www.wilders.org/"

Then doubleclick that file and confirm you want to merge it with the registry.

You can change the URL to any other page you would like.
This is just to establish if this will work.

    Regards,

    Pieter

    Hi AJMay,

    Could you please install SpywareGuard
    For downloadlink check here: http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=18102

Change your StartPage to the one you want. Activate the Browser Hijack Protection. It will give you the choice to keep the old value. I would be interested to know when these changes take place, so let me know if you can find a pattern in the alarms of SpywareGuard.

    Regards,

    Pieter

Hi Pieter, thanks for the help.
I ran SWG and changed my start page from IE. As soon as I cleared it to set the new homepage, I got another warning that something was trying to set the homeppage to the yahoo page.
After the 3rd time, I just let it set it because it would have done it forever.
    Here is the log:

Sorry about that, I feel like an idiot. I never set that option on FreeSurfer, so it never occurred to me o_O, maybe I shouldn`t be using a computer
Thanks for all your help, I have cleared up some other problems with the suggestions and software here! Again, sorry for being such a dope

    Not to worry AJMay.

    Entirely my own fault.
I never looked at your first log or I would have known straight away.
The same thing happened 2 days ago.

We all learn. I'm just a little slow. ;)

    Regards,

    Pieter
