o_O I'm curious to know what that "show trashcan" process is. Does it have anything to do with nortons?

Used to have it but not anymore. Changed to nod32, best 40 dollars i've ever spent! ;)

    Hi snowbound,

Your log looks as it should, with the excellent protection you have installed: clean.

    These:
O9 - Extra button: Trashcan (HKCU)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Show Trashcan (HKCU)
are not processes, but extra options in the IE bar.
I don´t know where they came from. NAV 2003 PE did not put them there on my box.

    Regards,

    Pieter

Did you have Outpost firewall installed at any time? Outpost's ad filtering component places a trashcan button on the IE bar. One can drag ads to the Outpost trash icon in order to block the ad's URL in the future.

    Hi Optigrab :D

As a matter of fact i did trial outpost 2 weeks ago. I guess when i uninstalled it, it left these things behind.

Would it be safe to delete these in hijack this now that i don't have outpost anymore?

    Thanks for your help
    Regards
    Snowbound

    Hi Snowbound

I'm expert in neither HijackThis nor in removing/uninstalling Outpost. Quickly perusing the Outpost forum, it seems that two important steps to the uninstall process are: (1) uninstall all Outpost plugins first - which sounds like it would apply to your situation, and (2) use some sort of registry cleaner (e.g. JV16 or AceUtilities) after the uninstall. You can get more detailed instructions from the Outpost forum http://www.outpostfirewall.com/forum/.

Perhaps reinstalling and then uninstalling is best. OTOH, HijackThis might be safe and simple, but again I'm no expert. ;)

    Regards
    Optigrab

My pleasure to help when I can :D

I've learned so much from thie smart folks here, I try to jump on every rare opportunity to give something back - even though I'm still a newbie and short on know-how by most measures.

Ditto your praise of Pieter, Low Water Mark, and Paul. Thanks to them (and a whole bunch of other members) the learning curve has been great fun so far.

    Regards,
    Optigrab
