hide my pc on my LAN

    HI,
    PLease can anyone assist me on how i can hide my pc's identity from my local area network. ie no other computer on my network can see my pc even on the same workgroup? or can i get a software for that. my O.S is microsoft xp sp2.

    Hi there. One way you can hide your PC is to first make certain that File and print sharing is disabled. Connection properties of your network card should provide these options. Another way I have found is to download this:

    Xp Antispy is an extremely useful tool for making Windows more "secure" if such a thing could ever exist. If you use windows updates, however, be wary of some of it's features, because I may disable a file that windows update needs. Anyway, once you install the program, under the network section, there is an option to "Hide computer from network."

    This should do what you were wanting.
