A better idea... Someone should write an article on where to buy backup drives and imaging software so you don't have to pay the ransom.

The quoted paragraph above mentions effective back ups that for what ever reason don't work. How could that be if they are effective?
It says effective backups are required to avoid becoming part of the statistics. That part is accurate and makes sense. Obviously if they fail they are no longer effective.
