I have loaded and used the following software multiple times...Spykiller, which I purchased(bad mistake), CWScrubber, Ad-aware, Spybot S&D, and now I'm trying to download Spyware Blaster, but it tells me program damaged from bad HD sector or virus, which seems to be a common message from others in forum.

My problem is all of the above software seems to find bad files, etc. and deletes them, but it just keeps coming back. The CWScrubber always finds CWS.Searchx and my homepage is always being reset to about:blank. Obviously there are still evil, nasty, frustrating, dangerous files lurking about.

I am pasting my latest scan log from HijackThis:

What can I try next, and how do I get a successful download of Spyware Blaster? By the way, all of you programmers who work hard to obliterate this garbage are my heroes! Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hello,

Let's start with some basic clean up.

    1. Open My Computer
    2. Right click on your hard drive that you wish to clean (C drive, for example)
    3. In the context menu that opens, select properties
    4. Under the general tab you should select Disk Cleanup
    5. Windows will scan your drive which will take a few seconds/minutes
    6. A box will display the various files you can remove. Here are some safe examples:

    Temporary Internet Files
    Recycle Bin
    Temporary Files

    7. Click OK and windows will comply.

Next I want you to do a disk defrag:

    Click on Start>All Programs>Accessories>Sytem Tools>Disk Defrag

When done, Reboot. Go to this online virus scan and let me know the results:

Let me know how things are going.
