HDD docking station vs Ext Enclosure?

    Does anyone have any recommendations favouring one over the other? Im tossing up between a twin bay docking station or twin bay ext enclosure. If you use a docking station, do you place the HDD in an antistat bag/cover after use or just leave it in the station? Have you found any adverse effects like premature wear on the contacts through constant removal?
