having problems with recovering data from old HD.

    so, i plugged my old (master) HD which had XP on it and some important docs. its running ok and the CPU recognize it but i cant gain access to it.
    i tried several programs such as Acronis Disk Suite and Active@Undelete.

    Try to get access by going to Admin Tools-Computer Management -Disk Management.

    Then initialise the drive and do whatever necessary to make healthy.

    I would do a chkdsk I:/f on that drive, or a scandisk with the box to fix errors checked. That will usually fix the problem.

    Usually when some files on the drive are corrupted from a abnormal shutdown it will cause those types of problems. It's an easy enough problem to fix.

    I would also consider using NTFS in the future as the default file system instead of FAT32, it's more robust and also easier to fix itself from corruption problems.

    about the NTFS, yea i know its a drive dat my parents used.
    can u guide me threw? i really dont want to do something wrong.
    if u can write the steps it will help alot.
