Has there ever been rogue web browsers?

    whats up wilders security!,

    ive just been thinking, since rogue anti virus' are really popular these days, and even now there are rogue defrag programs, has there ever been a fake/rogue version of popular web browsers such as firefox, google chrome, opera, etc etc.

    Be patient. It will happen. Especially involving a browser claiming to protect privacy :rolleyes:

    We had one for years. It was called IE6, the biggest malware magnet ever made. :D

    Not including Google or something similar from another data hoarding company, I wouldn't expect to see an actual rogue browser. You might see malware packaged to look like a browser. A browser is a pretty big piece of software. Building one just to infect someone would definitely be doing it the hard way.

    There likely has been and will be new scareware without a doubt as many Rogue applications attempt to infect your machine in new ways.
