If a pc has a serious hardware failure such as a motherboard and needs to be replaced with a completely different model, how can the True Image backups be accessed.

I have found that XP is not happy being installed on a different hardware setup and usually have to undertake a fresh install.

Can Acronis cope with major harware changes or should I make other plans for such situations??

In a worst case, just do a xp repair install and your progs and data will be saved and new hardware drivers installed. You will probably be required to reactivate through MS, and if so, they may refuse you if you changed the motherboard and are using an oem win xp
