    Hi

    i have 2 hard disk
on 1 hard disk i have xp and 4 partition
on another hard disk (second hard disk) i have windows 7 with 4 partition
i installed windows 7 and after i created other paritions with acronis disk director 10 ,it's an old version , i bought some years ago with true image 9
now i don't use any more

    well my question
Hard Disk Manager 2011 Suite is the paragon software with this feature Automatically align partitions

    my scenario is
1 partition with windows 7 , was made by windows 7 with the new windows 7/vista standard , the other partitions in the same hard disk were made by disk director 10 (old version)

in my case is the Automatically align partitions secure?
or could made a mess , with the lost of the others partitions?

    any feedbacks are welcome

    thanks

    mantra,

You aren't using SSDs and both OS boot normally. You will not notice any difference with your computer if you align the partitions to 2048 sector alignment. Save yourself some stress. Accept your current alignment.

I have several Win7 OS on this computer. Only one is aligned to 2048 sectors. They all perform the same.

    thanks
    i got it
but i guess i should avoid Hard Disk Manager 2011 Suite , because in the case of restore a partition(image) or resize or other actions , it performs
    thanks Brian

if partitions are copied\restored to unallocated space via HDM 2011 it is 100% safe that they will be aligned automatically.

By the way, Windows since Vista align partitions automatically too if they are created from Windows Dis Management.

Alignment for non-SSD drives is not required, but recommended. Please have a look at this article: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd758814(v=sql.100).aspx and scroll to Partition Alignment in Windows Operating Systems section.

    Dozens of times.

You can choose to align according to Vista/7 rules, or according to Legacy (XP).

There is an option under the Settings Tab.

I would use Vista or later partitioning.

That way , you know the alignment will be good.

XP works fine on partitions created with the new Vista/7 partitioning rules.

but will it change every partitions (made with xp disk director ) in vista/7 rules ?

or will it use the vista/7 rules only for the create/resize features?

    thanks a lot

Only new created\copied partitions are aligned by selected mode. Other partitions stay intact.
