I see it this way. If he decided not to use Image Backup, he knows in advance that he can't recover from such a disaster without help and that the possibility exists that he has to re-install his computer from scratch, if there is no help. I've done that too in the past as a total newbie, re-installing my computer and wasting my time.
Some users, including me, have to learn it the hard way before they listen to good advice and do it in practice.
I learned from my mistakes and from reading other user mistakes. That's why I have now a total recovery solution. :)

Tweakhound once said : "I have no pity with users, who don't backup their system." It's hard but true.

I also used to be one of those who threw caution to the wind and just let System Restore give me a break. That was untill it was widely targetted and rendered disabled altogether from an attack. I went thru countless different methods and all the time it took just to get back to a working registry, usually the only and very first one available IF it was any good at all, and if not, reinstall again and again.

Not untill i started really listening and heeding what others fiercely insisted on here at Wilder's to either get a a good backup app and use it or don't neglect making images with the one you have, which was my limitation.

A backup solution is surely an absolute *MUST when it comes to Windows systems.

Short answer - specific details are missing.

Let's distinguish between physical devices and partitions. Get specific - what is visible in the applications, what is not visible. I know it's two (or three) - which two (or three)? All the NTFS partitions obviously have assigned drive letters according to the screenshot. Have there been recent system changes? Tweaking? Get details, don't shoot in the dark, and don't go randomly throwing out format this, restore that. What does "I can access all of my drives" really mean? Start there.

I could go on, but start with defining the real problem with actual details that mean something.

He has all the drives labelled Krishnan.

Each should have a unique name,by using ''Properties" of each drive.

Also two drives have no name at all.

All drives must be named and differently.

In my experience, this could well be the problem.

A system restore etc will be absolutely no help.

Unfortunately, Krishnan has stopped replying. A sure way to terminate a thread is to ask the OP a question.
