guid question

    Does your hardware guid come from your hard drive or motherboard?

    This reminds me of the days when preinstalled optical disk burning software would mess with 4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318 in the form of upper/lower filter drivers. I don't know a single tech that didn't have that reg fix in their toolbox.

    That was always frustrating for me because I'm a hardware technician - I really am not interested in programming or the inner intricacies of the operating system. So when the hardware tested fine and worked fine on this machine but not that machine, I got headaches from clenching my jaws.

    I note MS has a Fixit solution for it now.
