Just noticed that at GRC there's a new test in the Shields Up section. It tests Universal Plug-n-Play in your router for any potential leaks. It may not be too new, but it's the first time I've noticed it anyway.

You can't miss it... it's a big orange button in the middle of the page after you click "proceed", after the part where it checks your reverse DNS.

Thought it may be of interest to some of you.

    Hi,

For those who don't use a "traditional reader client", you can read the announcement by Steve Gibson at the following web based link at grc.news on 31 Jan 2013:
    http://12078.net/grcnews/article.php?id=999&group=grc.news#999

That link is part of the grc.news Newsgroup in which only Steve can post.
For reading feedback posts you can go to grc.news.feedback:
    http://12078.net/grcnews/thread.php?group=grc.news.feedback

In general about GRC (but that doesn't belong in this thread):
The web based links are read-only.
If you want to "post", you need to use a "traditional reader client", as explained here at GRC:
    http://www.grc.com/newsdown.htm

The List of Lists gives some info about News Readers:
    http://lists.thedatalist.com/pages/News_Readers.htm

Anyways, back to the topic of this thread (general questions about News Readers belong to the Software Forum here).

hmm... it appears it was. But I doubt many people noticed it, buried in another thread randomly with a title that doesn't mention the site or the existence of this new test. I'd say this threads title will get the attention of far more people and direct them to this test, which could be useful for them in assessing & determining any possible risk involved with this vector and remedy it accordingly. So I feel it's pretty useful.

For instance... I'm a pretty active member here and I didn't notice it. When I see a thread titled something like: "It's official, UPnP is bad news", I think to myself... "well duh", and don't even bother clicking on it. And therefore end up missing this useful tidbit buried 3/4 of the way down the page. And I'm sure I wasn't the only one.

I missed it as well, I did read the thread, but at the time it wasn't yet posted and I didn't find the thread interesting enough to read the later added posts as well.

Discussed earlier or not. Still good to have it's own thread IMO.

And btw I got a GREEN sign so I'm fine :D
