I suspect my GPU (onboard) is fried. The laptop screen is completely black when booted, yet the SSD works fine. I connected the laptop to an external monitor via a VGA cable and I can see Windows boot in a fashion, i.e. the screen has four thick vertical lines down it along with nonsense garbled text. (By the way, these anomalies are also visible when at the BIOS level.)

Does this sound like a fried GPU to you?
