got this new virus!

    I know this may be way off track but do you have anything such as Process Explorer installed? If so check to make sure you have not selected "Replace Task Manager" under Options - or any other security product similar to this.

    Try right-clicking on one of the files that is giving you problems and look at the Properties. Go to the Security tab. You should see a list of users/groups (typically "Administrators", "Everyone", "Power Users", "SYSTEM", and "Users") on top, and their associated permissions on the bottom.

    Also click on the Advanced button down at the bottom. Look at the Owner tab. If a file has some incorrect owner, you can manually take ownership of the file.
