    Howdy,

I've tried everything: spybot, adaware, and rolling up my sleeves and just manually going in there, but to no avail. I'd appreciate it if you could help me out with this one: I'm having trouble identifying the right files. (I also have read on many forums that there's no one clear-cut solution.) I read a post by another user, and will definitely follow the windows security advice that was linked at the bottom in the future. In the meantime, I'd really appreciate some help with this hijackthis log. Thanks so much!

    Hi Skarecords,

    That looks like this one:
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=198412&postcount=26
Although I can tell you have been busy yourself. :)

Next, go to Start->Run and type "Services.msc" (without quotes) then hit OK.
Scroll down and find the service called "Network Security Service".
When you find it, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, click the Stop button, then change the Startup Type to Disabled. Now hit Apply and then OK and close any open windows.

    In TaskManager endtask these processes:
    C:\WINDOWS\addcx32.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\netzf.exe

Before you start please unzip hijackthis.exe to a folder of it´s own. The program creates backups in the folder it is in. In a Temp folder they easily disappear.

Check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

    Hi Pieter,

Thanks so very very much for your help. Everything seems to be working fine -- for the moment! One question: at the bottom of your post you mention "using the file attached to the post I linked to earlier". I followed the link and downloaded the attachment at the bottom of the post, called "cwsuninst", a text file. How am I supposed to "use" it? Am I supposed to add it somewhere to something? Sorry, I just don't know what you meant. A thousand thanks again for your help and your time, it means a lot to me and to all the people you help. -Skarecords

You have to rename that file to cwsuninst.reg
Then doubleclick it and confirm you want to merge it with the registry.
It will undo some of the changes made by this malware.

    Regards,

    Pieter
