Google services appear to be experiencing outages today, as account information fails to sync, or users are unable to login. We've been noticing issues syncing our Gmail inbox due to a connection error, marked with error code 2014.

The outage appears to be hitting more than one service, and affecting Google accounts in general. On devices not logged in, attempting to do so will result in an error stating the Google account could not be found. Devices that were previously logged in may be signed out if you visit them, with an error code 500 displayed went trying to sign back in.

It's unclear what could be causing the problems, and Google has yet to acknowledge any issues with its services. Meanwhile, DownDetector.com is showing numerous reports of outages in a wide range of services dependent on Google, including Pokémon GO, which uses Google accounts as a login method. Communication service Discord is also apparently affected by the outage.

On Monday morning, a large percentage of Google service users worldwide cannot use services while logged in, spanning YouTube, Gmail, Google Docs, Google Classroom, and more.
Google's Gmail abruptly went down some time around 6:30 AM Eastern Time, and is presenting users only with error messages.

Users attempting to access Gmail via an app such as Apple Mail are being shown an error claiming that authentication is required. The error dialog's Open Browser option launches one pop-up with a "loading" icon that never completes.

The flaws are related to authentication, making the problem expand past Google's services itself. Users cannot log into any third-party service through Google's authentication services as well.
YouTube is still accessible in private browser windows.

Update:

Update: Services appear to slowly be coming back online, and we're able to login again. Some elements may still have some problems loading for now, with profile pictures and some thumbnails missing. Things should get back to normal over time.
Update 2: Everything seems to be functional again now, though Google has yet to confirm services are back online. Reports on Downdetector.com also seem to be declining.
Update 3: Google has confirmed the issues have been fixed and everything should be back to normal.

Gmail is suffering its second outage in 24 hours, with users able to access their email but unable to send to other Gmail users or are experiencing unexpected behavior.

In BleepingComputer's tests, when sending an email to a Gmail (gmail.com) address, you will get an immediate delivery failure message, stating "Address not found."
However, sending emails to GSuite customers who use custom domains is not having any problems.

According to DownDetector, a service that allows visitors to report service outages, the Gmail outage is predominantly affecting users in the USA. At its peak, DownDetector reported over 17,000 users affected by the outage.

Thanks, IMDb and EASTER! Yes, now it's working for me too. I was able to access my Dashboard by using the YouTu.be alternative. At first I thought maybe the bookmark I was using got corrupted but it's doubtful as the same error was appearing in Edge browser.

So, what's the deal, Google?

Google started the week with a big outage that took down Gmail, Drive, and all other Workspace apps. As promised, Google now has a detailed explanation on the outage and steps it will take to prevent future incidents.

At a high level, the issue relates to existing work updating Google’s account authentication system. As the effort was ongoing, previous components were “left in place.” While keeping those older aspects resulted in an error about usage being at 0, Google instituted a grace period to delay the impact.

The company laid out plans to review, improve, and evaluate its systems to prevent similar issues of this nature. Google ended its outage explanation with an apology:

We would like to apologize for the scope of impact that this incident had on our customers and their businesses. We take any incident that affects the availability and reliability of our customers extremely seriously, particularly incidents which span multiple regions.

The following is a correction to the previously posted ISSUE SUMMARY, which after further research we determined needed an amendment.

All services that require sign-in via a Google Account were affected with varying impact. Some operations with Cloud service accounts experienced elevated error rates on requests to the following endpoints: www.googleapis.com or oauth2.googleapis.com. Impact varied based on the Cloud Service and service account. Please open a support case if you were impacted and have further questions.
