Has anyone managed to get back the classic search results button at the bottom of a search results page instead of the more results button? Previously, the classic button was always shown, but now it no longer does which means you can't skip to a page as with the classic button. The only way I managed to get the classic button to appear again is by logging in to my google account which I don't really want logged on all the time.
Same here... But for what it's worth, there is a project that tries to revive old Google interfaces from 1998 - 2013: https://oldgoogle.neocities.org/ This is the 2010 version:
not here, germany, i still get the page numbers. not logged in. either its only available in your country, or you are part of an experiment, maybe including AI. checkout with a vpn to another country. edit: now it happend here too last minutes when reloading without cache. see what i can do. edit2: it dont happen on "News" edit3: and now no longer. seems that google is toggling some kind of experiment
Hmm... Tried it in Firefox Nightly and Developer, as well as in Chromium and there are still the page numbers. Not logged in either.
Google in their infinite wisdom have made this change here too. I'm only seeing, "See more ->" now. Not a fan.
today it re-appeared here. as i wrote this morning there exist no setting to recover the old result list. as far i read this is the new AI driven result list. https://www.businessinsider.com/google-new-ai-powered-search-will-look-very-different-2023-5 and if you think that DDG keep the old one, sorry, it show same. but - DDG show a number left of separators.
I had this problem a few months ago, I even posted about it on WSF. For me what helped was clearing cookies, because changing the settings didn't help. But after a while it started again, and I had to keep clearing cookies. But since reinstalling Vivaldi 6.1, it somehow stopped and started to act normally again, so I don't get to see the "more results'' button anymore. Haven't got a clue what happened. I do use the Dutch Google version, perhaps this plays a role.
Oddly enough, the classic results button returns if I keep my google account logged on. As soon as I logoff search reverts back to the more results crap
I guess I'm in luck, I don't need to be logged in, it simply works as before. Perhaps you should experiment a bit with cookie cleaning and changing Google settings, and see how things work in different browsers. You could also try to use uBlock Origin.
Sadly enough I now also get to see the ''more results'' button, and clearing cookies doesn't help. So it really is a new design that they rolled out worldwide. I have already send them feedback to bring back page numbers. Because a long list of search results is sometimes quite unhandy, what a bunch of idiots, didn't they hear of the customer is always right?
It has become worse for me, now all of a sudden, Google Search doesn't remember the continuous scrolling setting, at least not while not being logged in. Are they trying to push me away to some other search engine, or what?
here too, good search results, and possibility to custom homepage definitely (UBO custom filters) even if you clear browsing data and cookies. Mine look like this :
Those who do not want to give up Google Search also have the option QuackQuackGo: https://quackquackgo.net/
It's not good enough for me, strangely enough just about all of these Google Search competitors have this annoying 1 second lag to present me the search results. For now I will stick with Google, I suppose I will eventually get used to this continuous scrolling stuff.
Yes correct, I knew about this, I don't even know how Google allows this in the first place. But it's the interface and speed that annoys me about the competitors. Even a small millisecond delay already annoys me, I'm very picky when it comes to this.
StartPage's search results are definitely different from Google's results. Different to me not only for the 2 reasons mentioned. So much less accurate and generic (hence wrong) than Google.
Yeah, I hate to say it but Google's browser and search are superior to others, largely because we users have funded their research and dev so lavishly. I install Chrome and use Google search now and then to get a sense of how things are. You get "nose blind" when you use the same stuff every day. I'm nose blind by using Firefox.
You won't believe it, but seems like Google has brought back the page numbers? Just when I was getting used to continuously scrolling LOL. Also I have another question, is Google Maps broken on Google Search? When I search for places I can not actually click on the map in the top right corner anymore. For example, when you search for Harlem (in New York), can you guys click on the map?
Yes weird, perhaps it was a bug or something, because it ignored my settings for months. About the maps, seems like they have once again changed stuff. When I now search for Harlem or Amsterdam, I can see a map that you can make bigger. But in the past I could click on it, and it would switch to Google Maps. I also don't see Maps being listed beneath the Google Search bar, normally it would be next to news and images, see screenshot.
