It will all come down to specify, what is the data and how it is protected internationally. Laws are not flexible enough. You could not come to a different country and just take the physical evidence (even when it is owned by the company). Data is more peculiar, since you can simply copy/paste it from Asia to US within seconds an nobody would even know.
