Today I noticed that whatever I typed in the Google search engine had a different font. Actually I'm not sure if it's a new font, but things look larger/bold. VERY annoying. Enough to convince me to switch to a different default search engine. For the record: Google is not my home page, I don't have a Google email account or browser (IE 7) and I don't have a Google toolbar. I did some research (google!) and it seems many users are complaining about this. Like, I'm not 90 years old. It seems I cannot change this. If anyone knows a way to roll back to the previous 'font' I'd like to know how. I've seen some scripts that purportedly would do that, but I don't like to execute scripts I find on the internet, and even if it worked it could cause problems if Google would make new changes or undo this recent one. I even tried CCleaner and restoring an image (I presumed I had messed it up), but that didn't work. It's VERY annoying.
Have a read here http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2009/09/now-s-u-p-e-r-sized.html and here http://www.ghacks.net/2009/09/10/did-google-just-increase-the-font-size-of-google-search/
I noticed that script, but don't know whether it's safe. I don't feel like messing around with scripts. If they don't change it soon I'll start using a different search engine. What on earth were they thinking ?
I agree that it is annoying. I feel like I am looking at Google for senior citizens. Maybe I will appreciate that in later years but not now. Eventually I would get used to it I guess but I would rather they switch it back.
Annoying ? It scared me to dead the first time when i've tried it. I've thinked that something is geting out of my monitor. Same here.
And me: I like this new font of Google. But i do not even 120 years ... far from it! You choose another free Web Search, like Scroogle Scraper, Proxify, Ixquick, FindWide http://www.findwide.com/search.php , many choices! Better: with thumbnails ... PROROOTECT
True, there are many alternatives. But I am accustomed to using Google. It's probably one of the best general purpose search engines. I hope they fix it. Before Google my main search engine was Altavista. There is no way I'm going to use Yahoo's or Bing/Live's search.
