I cannot find a place to post this.
Is Google Chrome compatible with normal AVs?

But the real reason I posted is to ask Why Google Chrome? Is it supposed to be safer? What will it do that FireFox won't?
    Thanks,
    Jerry

I never heard of it not being compatible, Jerry.
As for why Chrome?, is it safer?, and what will it do that FF won't do?...
I chose Chrome initially because I had read about its speed, and I was not disappointed in that department.
In the course of trying it out, I began to learn about Chrome's origin as a no-frills browser, and that concept appealed to me too.
Then I began to recognize the security enhancements, and that really solidified my appreciation of Chrome.
I'd say that Chrome's sandbox is probably the biggest attribute that Chrome has over FF. But since I don't run FF, I can't speak from personal experience in other areas. I'm pretty sure that Chrome's bundled Flash is something FF does not have. That's a big plus for me.
I also enjoy Chrome's bundled PDF reader and I like its print preview function.
On top of it all I am impressed with Chrome's ongoing effort to improve itself from a security standpoint. They release new builds frequently, and offer increased rewards to users who identify issues.

I want to add as a disclaimer that I have nothing whatsoever against FF. I already said I don't use it. Many members who I respect and admire feel it is the best.

    Hi Page,
Thanks, I had recently seen that it was getting some use, and have it on my laptop.
I did not know about its sandbox. I might try that and see if it will work for me. It would seem to add some security.

Thanks, JR for moving to the proper forum.

    Regards,
    Jerry

It is compatible with most of them if not all. F-Secure, for example, will start supporting Chrome from their upcoming 2013 version. Kaspersky now fully supports it as well.

As for security of the browser itself, it's indeed the most secure and fastest of them all.

Thanks. Does the sandbox operate by default?

    Yes.
It's a very behind-the-scene part of the browser.
    I don't even know it's there.
Here's a good read on the topic, Jerry...

ESET is supporting all browser afaik becuase it doesn't use browser plugins.
But I guess it would differ between other AV's how much or less compatible they are due to their plugins etc etc...

:thumb: I agree. Security, speed and simplicity are the main characteristics that I love about this browser.
