It happens me to just about every day, because I use the Chrome extension Page Monitor to check for updates to a lot of pages, and many of these are Google search results. Also, I think it's happened sometimes due to my VPN.

But, usually when I'm not doing excessive searches, I never get that.

Have you tried setting another startup page in Google Chrome, something else than google.com?
See: Set your homepage and startup page

    I understand,
and I hope someone can tell you what is wrong and how to fix it,
but I was thinking that by setting the startup page in Google Chrome to something else than google.com, for now, you can use Chrome without the recurring need to go through the "Prove you are not a robot" verification.
Again: for now, until someone can tell you what is wrong and how to fix it.

When it says prove you're not a robot, click all the boxes with street signs, the only box I click is the one with the little x in the top corner of my screen.

I think it might have something to do with, cookies, ad blocking or, javascript. If any of them is not behaving as the website expects, because of, perhaps, privacy settings? The site flags you as potentially a robot.
