I noticed something weird. First Sygate was bought by Symantec (that means the end of Sygate Personal Firewall being updated), Kerio discontinues their Personal Firewall in the end of year 2005. Only good option left is ZoneAlarm which tends to have problems with everything and is especially problematic for usage with eMule. Jetico is ok but way too complicated and has small problems here and there. What to use? Selection is narrowing down and nothing really encouraging is getting released. Why is this happening?

    Hi,
    Let's wait and see.
Sygate has not disappeared yet. Kerio is still there. People still run 2.1.5 even though it's years old. So 4.2 could be good for another 2 years. And so can Sygate, even if it doesn't get updated. Let's see how Jetico or Filseclab advance.

There is also CHX, ZA and obscure ones like X-Wall, Softwall and Securepoint as well.

There is a similar thread ongoing here. Let's post in that thread to avoid confusion.
