Do you mean animated gifs? In theory the Gimp should do this, but I can't get it to work properly. I've got version 2.0.4, maybe the bug is fixed in the latest release. The only other free option I know of is UnFREEz; you'd have to use another graphics editor to make the individual frames, save each one as a gif file and then import them all into UnFREEz to make the animation :p Not elegant, but it does the job.

You're probably aware of most of them, so the only other one I know offhand that's been around for awhile is XnView.
Don't worry either, I've got a feeling this thread's going to explode! :D

    Best of Luck Mr.Spear.....

Are you looking to edit beyond the capabilities of The Gimp cause I know you've been playing with it OR, you're trying to locate a tool that operates differently function-wise? Irfanview, PhotoFiltre, or the one that Eldar likes won't cover your needs?

You do know about GIFWorks!?

What about Blender ? It's also free. :)
Haven't tried it though, so I don't know what you can achieve with it, but
    it does get excellent ratings.

Edit: correction, distracted by my kids. :D

I found Microsoft GIF Animator as well yesterday, that puts images together nicely, very simple to use. So now I just need to play with the images, might try going back to The Gimp, I'm looking at doing my Avatar with a bit of sparkle added to it.

    Cheers to you all :D

PS. Hi GF, yes found Gifworks yesterday as well, not quite what I was looking for, had a play and decided to keep looking, am almost there, getting a nice toolbox together that is very simple to use and has great results ;) :D Cheers :D

i found this next site below, but i dont know anything about it. all the other links i have given i trust. usually if i find a site that i dont know and theres something i want to download from it, i'll put the name of it into a search engine along with the word freeware or shareware and see if the program turns up on a site i know and trust.
