Virtually every page loads fast for me, with:

1. private browsing mode, and no third-party cookies
2. Adblock Plus with no exceptions
3. NoScript with no default exceptions

Some do refuse to load at all, until I tweak NoScript, but not many.

 

If you use Chrome/Chromium, please use HTTP SwitchBoard, in my view is the best no-scripting/anti-tracking extension.

I just got Ghostery installed and it stops this video from auto playing. I paused it and then whitelisted the site and it plays now but does not block anything now. Instead of whitelisting ENTIRE sites, try selectively TEMP unblocking one thing @ a time, & see what works, or doesn't.

You could also install a Video Downloader APP, so you wouldn't need to allow Any trackers etc

 

Based on what I saw in ABP's list of blockable elements, you probably need to whitelist Chartbeat in Ghostery on ESPN.com for the videos to play properly.

(A little off topic, but I've been using Disconnect instead of Ghostery lately because the former is faster on Fx 26. That video played fine for me with Disconnect and ABP with EP+EL on Fx with nothing whitelisted.)

 

I have Disconnect but turned it off a while back and tried PrivDog. PrivDog has conflicts with Adblock that caused Adblock to get error messages and the chrome Gear in upper right would change color. So i turned on Ghostery again to get around the error messages. Maybe i should try Disconnect again.

 

Disconnect 2 seems to be working good... blocks a lot of stuff and seems to work well with Adblock. Surfing and page loading seems to be faster at least for now.
