It is about time. I haven't used flash player in my primary browser for nearly a year now and rarely have I needed it.

With HTML5, flash is seldom needed. Flash was always buggy, insecure and was vulnerable to malware exploits.

Correct, but browsers need to implement a way to block auto-play of HTML5 video, because that is one of the biggest annoyances at the moment.

Agreed. I wish it was gone as of today. Better yet, yesterday.

Agreed but unfortunately some web designers of popular websites such as calgarysun[dot]com and especially tsn[dot]ca have yet to get their collective heads out of the sand and modernize their web sites to utilize html5.

Not on this machine they don't LoL But they just as well strip the web of them courtesy jQuery and such. Ugh but ok I guess.

I work everyday when I can and still fashion great automations with SWF files. I edit and recode the dickens out of them to fashion all sorts of local system timers, triggers for automatic switching of visual effects etc. Flash is Great! on your local machine(s) to work with. The net obviously not so much anymore.

I quite like to play certain escape/adventure games and i have not or am unaware of any comparable HTML5 gamesites that can match adobe flash.
This is the only reason i would use flash. My young son in particular likes flash games and i hope HTML5 catches up real soon.

One of the reasons I hate Flash is because it often wouldn't work on many sites. Of course the fault also lies with browser and websites developers, but I have noticed that with HTML5 video I never have any problems. BTW, we need a new name for HTML5 video, it doesn't sound catchy.

I don't much care for that term either but we're stuck with it for now.

Ever since Windows 98 I been raiding the ie.Content from that Temp Folder which drops all the various VISUALS junk (css-jpg-png-flv-etc) and my favorite SWF files to experiment with. Best I been able to come up with is basic timers, photo looping galleries and such and that's almost like a hobby that still goes on but places like FlashKIT and the like are also gradually fading into the sunset when up against today's more web friendly and obviously safer formats.

Still, i'll keep on looking and keep on coding some cool local machine timers, (which is really the best part for me). If I leave my facility I trip a flash timer and know exactly how long I was away, OR, fashioned Sleep timers to pick the one I think fits my common pattern best. Preference since Windows XP is been to let SAFlashplayer 7.0 r14 serve as the base for all those works and still use it on Windows 8.1.

Since being an old diehard I also use Windows 98 Soloway's Task Scheduler to trigger when the flash files kick on. So much simpler IMO.

Flash at one time was really h0t and all the rave and worked well so long as it didn't pipe out the CPU cycles too much. I think JQuery kind of ended up supplanting it for website/webpage use though.

Yes I think that also. MS will probably try to remove a version which is included in OS and not the one which user downloads and installs.

To anyone that is still unclear this patch will remove the Flash player that is listed in the Windows control panel. Also, if you are on 20H2 the download listed for 2004 works on 20H2.
