Georgia Tech to pursue 'transparent Internet'.

What if Internet users could click a button and determine whether their service was being artificially slowed down? Or if the government were censoring their content? In the name of Internet transparency, a team of Georgia Tech researchers will use a $1 million Google Research Focused Award to provide Internet users around the world with just those kinds of tools.

Well them Georgia Tech researchers are good at err, pick-pocketing money. It was this group that was part of the Blade Defender fiasco.

They must get distracted a lot, they never finished Blade Defender. Transparent, that word makes me laugh. Our particular government was supposed to change and be transparent, and we see where that went. And now these guys, who worked with said government on their last unfinished product, want to create a transparent internet...when the government is trying to take the thing over? I wonder what's in the drinking water there in Georgia?

When they're finished with that research, they can jump on over to the new CTIS lab, and hand them in:

The Georgia Tech Research Institute this month created a research laboratory that will aid the military with ideas and, maybe, weapons for cyberwar — whatever that might be.

“DoD doesn’t really have a definition for what a cyberwarrior is,” said Bo Rotoloni, acting director of the Cyber Technology and Information Security Laboratory. “What duties and skills would a cyberwarrior have? What tools would he use? You can’t project power [in cyberspace] the way you can by putting an [aircraft] carrier out there.”

Georgia Tech’s cyberlab aims to help the Defense Department define these things and develop a sound “mission-focused cyberdefense,” Rotoloni said.

Researchers in the lab will pursue opportunities with the Pentagon and Department of Homeland Security, as well as local, state and foreign governments. The lab consists of three divisions, one of which focuses on countering adversary information networks.

This division will investigate scenarios of offensive operations in cyberspace, something that military leaders have been reluctant to discuss openly.
