I have Windows XP Home addition and I keep getting a series of 6 popup message boxes that Microsoft Generic Host services for Win 32 is attempting to access the Internet. My Norton Firewall allows me to block them, but the frequewncy is disturbing. Is there any way I can turn this off without disabling my ability to access the Internet? o_O

    Hi Paul, and welcome. :)

The answer to your question can get quite involved since the "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services" covers so many services on an XP.

Hopefully someone more experienced with firewalls and what should or shouldn't be blocked will be able to give you more of an idea of what you should allow or not. But in the meantime, here is a bit on "Svchost.exe" that will get you started.
