    Hi:

Been a while. Here is my issue. This gateway pc came with windows 10 and it accepts and detects windows 10 installation disk. Now I want to put windows 7 but the pc does not detect the windows 7 install disk. It seems as it sees an empty dvd drive??. I do not know why? could it be it is designed for windows 10 and or because windows 7 does not uses UEFI or what?

I even tried to turn off the UEFI in BIOS but did not work. I tried linux and it installs fine all linux distros. Seems it does not like windows 7s at all?

So can anyone here help me or give me an idea why is that? Seems I am stuck with windows 8/10 and linux on this pc.
Damn gateway pcs suck. I have a asus and it takes all windows.

the thing is with the ASUS pc I have the UEFI BIOS windows is great and gives you option to boot from any disk. but the with the gateway the bios look like pre-UEFI old style bios but it has UEFI enable / disable option. So this is a first and its strange.

    taleblou,

You mentioned Linux would install. Did it install in UEFI mode or MBR/Legacy mode?
